High Country Lumber & Mulch, LLC. is our on-site sawmill. We are an Appalachian Hardwood sawmill that produces 25 million feet annually. Our mill features the latest technology producing some of the finest hardwoods available. We supply quality hardwoods in the following species: Yellow Poplar (Tulipwood), Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, Soft Maple, Ash, and Walnut.

We pride ourselves on zero waste production. The majority of our sawdust is used to fire up our boiler which makes steam for our dry kilns. The remainder of the dust is delivered to poultry and livestock farmers for bedding. Our skilled employees take pride in consistently producing the utmost quality lumber, year-round. Everyone at our facility, from the forester to the sales, is dedicated to supplying the best hardwoods to our valued customers throughout the world.

We annually produce fifteen million board-feet of kiln-dried lumber on-site. Our modern steam-fired dry kilns have a capacity of 650,000. We maintain a kiln-dried inventory of over one million feet at all times.

All of our kiln-dried lumber is USDS inspected. We have twenty-seven sorts and also handle special requests such as sorted widths and/or color sorts.

We at HCL&M produce the best hardwood mulch in the region. We offer pick-up as well as delivery service within a one-hundred mile radius. Our loyal customers include primitive landscapers, corporate business facilities, and local homeowners.  We continually serve areas in Wilkes, Valle Crucis, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem in North Carolina.

We are currently producing 400 loads annually of double ground Red Oak and 750 loads annually of aged Mixed Hardwood.  Both types are double-ground for color and consistency.
